My Gift to You

I love pipe organ music, so about 40 years ago I aspired to be a church organist.  I was Photo of gift in handextremely nervous that first Sunday.  With shaking hands and legs, I attempted to play the last couple of lines of the first hymn as an introduction.  Despite intense practice the preceding week, it went so poorly that no one knew when to start singing.  Even after playing the entire verse through again, only a few people could recognize when to begin.  After 3 more terrifying weeks, I gave up on that career.  I’ve had similar episodes with public speaking.

Ever since then, I’ve empathized with the many talented musicians I’ve met who are too scared to share – and therefore don’t even develop – their gifts.  And I know people who have a message the world needs to hear, but they’re too afraid of the spotlight to stand up and give it.

I’ve done more than empathize, though.  I’ve studied the research, tested the theories myself, and proven what works.  Most importantly for you, I’ve distilled it into simple, universal techniques that have worked for others and will work for you too.  I am writing this blog so you can avoid the pain I went through and benefit from the growing body of knowledge and practice about performance stress.

Suppose you could do what you now think is impossible.  What else might you go on to do?  That’s your potential, and my gift to you is the means to reach for it.
